Despite Americans' hunger for bigger and bigger SUVs, so far the largest all-electric vehicles top out at roughly 200 inches long, more than 2 feet shorter than the biggest gas vehicles. Today Cadillac unveiled the all-electric 2025 Escalade IQ to help fill that gap, and bring Cadillac's flagship into the all-electric era.

The Escalade IQ is big - 224 inches long, towing capacity of 8000lbs - with big specs and a big price. It's powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that produces up to 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque, bringing the beast to 60mph in less than 5 seconds. It doesn't yet have an EPA range estimate, but Cadillac says it expects to get roughly 450 miles on the top trim. It will start at an eye-watering $130,000, roughly $43,000 more than the comparable base Escalade ESV 4WD, and putting it far out of reach of most consumers.

Whether you believe Cadillac's creative writing team that the Escalade IQ is "inspired by the worlds of architecture, upscale furnishings, fashion and more," suffice it to say that it looks like an electric Escalade in a good way. It's still big and boxy, but the design is more futuristic and luxurious. The front end is dominated by a large grille and vertical LED headlights, and the rear end features a sloping roofline and integrated taillights. The interior is also nice, with a spacious cabin and a variety of high-tech features, including a curved pillar-to-pillar 55-inch total diagonal LED display. The Escalade IQ will also have a frunk with 12 cubic feet of cargo room.

The Escalade IQ comes standard with Super Cruise driver assistance technology, which allows for hands-free driving on compatible roads. The SUV also features vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging capability, which allows it to power your home during a power outage.

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is scheduled to go on sale in late 2024.
